Tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in
New Brunswick, Canada, and the world. In the past decade, tourism revenues
in NB have increased by 5.9% annually, exceeding the average GDP growth of
4.6% for the same period Currently, the Miramichi region attracts approximately
7% of the visitors to the province, which equates to 140,000 tourists in
2002.
According to
industry figures, on average $85 is spent per person per day. A survey
conducted by MRVT revealed that visitors to the region stay on average 3
days, providing
regional tourism revenues of $35,700,000 in 2002 (Tourism Sector Task Group).
