NBCC-Miramichi is a public educational institution that trains its
students in the skills required for employment with industry and government.
NBCC-Miramichi offers pre-employment certificates and diploma level courses
in five areas of specialization:
- Heavy Equipment
- Learning Technologies
- Animation and Graphics
- Natural Resources
- Protective
Services
Over
600 students enroll in eighteen courses, which include contract training
for business and industry, apprenticeship training, night school
and correspondence services. NBCC Miramichi employs approximately 150
people.

University Centre of the Miramichi |

The "University Centre of the Miramichi" has been running
in cooperation with NBCC-Miramichi for several years.
The college has
made its facilities available for the University
of New Brunswick,
St. Thomas University,
and Mount
Allison University to conduct first
and
second year Arts, Sciences and Commerce courses.
Students have the
option of continuing their studies at one of these institutions once
they have
completed their second year of study. |

Private Training Institutions
and Business Colleges |

The City of Miramichi also boasts a number of private training institutions
and business colleges Academy
of Learning Computer & Business Career College,
and Miramichi
Career College offer a variety of computer-based learning
programs.
The Memramcook Institute has a satellite French language training
facility in the area.

Research Council (NRC) |

The National Research Council (NRC) has recently (Spring 2001) established
a satellite office at NBCC-Miramichi. The purpose of this office is
to assist local companies to increase productivity, sales and R&D
efforts through the use of information technology.
The college and
Miramichi area are connected via a broadband high-speed Internet
connection with the other NRC facilities in the province. |

Mira-Tech Incubation Center is focused on advanced learning and training
companies, training technologies and multi-media.
Their goal is to
facilitate and accelerate the development of e-learning firms so
they may better serve global demands. |
