WINTER ADVISORY

Please be advised that the City of Miramichi Police Department will be enforcing By-Law No. 55, A By-Law of the City of Miramichi to Regulate Traffic, Parking and the Use of Streets, regulates the parking of vehicles on City of Miramichi Streets as well as relevant section of the Highway Act.  Residents should be aware of the following:

IT IS AN OFFENCE:
To park on any street from November 1st to April 15th between midnight and 7 a.m. or upon any street at any time so as to interfere with snowplowing operations or other street maintenance.  Violators are advised that vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed without notice. The vehicle owner would be liable for the payment of any fine and any towing or impounding costs.

UNDER THE HIGHWAY ACT:
69(1) A person commits an offence who

(a) erects, places, puts or maintains any building, structure, gasoline pump, lumber, logs, stones, refuse, snow or other encumbrance or obstruction over upon any highway.

THE FOLLOWING STEPS WILL BE CARRIED OUT DURING A STORM:
Step 1 OPEN the streets for emergency              vehicular traffic (ambulance, fire and police).
Step 2 CLEAR and WIDEN the driving surface to the edge of the road or curb.
Step 3 SAND and/or SALT as required. It should be noted that extreme cold limits the effectiveness of sand or salt. Drivers should take extra care.

AVERTISSEMENT DE TEMPS HIVERNAL

Veuillez prendre note que le service de police de la Ville de Miramichi fera respecter l’arrêté n° 55, Un arrêté de la Ville de Miramichi réglementant la circulation, le stationnement et l’utilisation des rues, qui régit le stationnement de véhicules dans les rues de la ville de Miramichi et la section pertinente de la Loi sur la voirie. Les résidants doivent être au courant des règlements suivants :

CONSTITUE UNE INFRACTION :
Le fait de stationner dans toute rue du 1er novembre au 15 avril entre minuit et 7 h ou dans toute rue à n’importe quel moment au point d’entraver les opérations de déneigement ou toute autre activité d’entretien des rues. Les contrevenants sont informés qu’ils devront payer une amende et/ou que leur véhicule sera remorqué sans aucun préavis. Le propriétaire du véhicule sera responsable du paiement de toute amende et de tous frais liés au remorquage ou à la détention.

EN VERTU DE LA LOI SUR LA VOIRIE :
69(1) Commet une infraction quiconque

(a) dresse, place, met ou maintient tout bâtiment, ouvrage d’art, pompe à essence, bois d’œuvre, ou toutes bûches, pierres, déchets, neige ou autre obstacle ou obstruction au-dessus d’une route ou sur celle-ci

LES MESURES SUIVANTES SERONT PRISES DURANT UNE TEMPÊTE :
1ère MESURE OUVRIR les rues à la circulation automobile urgente (ambulance, incendie et police).
2e MESURE CLAIRER et ÉLARGIR la chaussée jusqu’au bord de la route ou jusqu’à la bordure.
3e MESURE APPLIQUER DU SABLE et/ou DU SEL au besoin. Il importe de noter que le froid intense restreint l’efficacité du sable ou du sel. Les conducteurs doivent être particulièrement vigilants.
