What is Communities in Bloom?

Communities in Bloom is a Canadian organization that encourages communities across the country to compete in a challenge of beautification, tidiness and community pride.

The Competition brings together individuals from community organizations, institutes and businesses. Each community is judged on tidiness, heritage preservation, environmental efforts and community involvement.

More Than Just a Beauty Contest

Expert, specially trained volunteer judges travel across Canada during the summer to evaluate municipalities on eight key criteria and the efforts made by municipalities, businesses and private citizens:

- Floral Displays
- Turf and Groundcovers
- Landscaped Areas
- Natural and Cultural Heritage Conservation
- Tidiness
- Tree/Urban Forest Management
- Environmental Awareness

What Can You Do?

We are challenging all or our citizens, businesses and municipalities to make a special effort to clean up your properties (a coat of paint make a big difference!) as well as add some visual detail to your property: a shrub, small trees or planters, every little bit counts. All we can ask is that you do your share!
