Organization
The department functions under the leadership and direction of Chief John Mather and an administration, management and operational group consisting
of two Platoon Chiefs, one Division Chief, three Districts Chiefs, nine Captains
and eight Lieutenants.
The Chief and Platoon Chiefs act in a full time management
position. The District Chiefs and other officers serve as part time or volunteer
officers that are required in each district.
The Department also has 1 Divisional Chief in charge of Prevention, Inspections
and Investigations along with one Secretary and 10 career fire fighters who
work out of stations one and two. The three remaining stations are under
the direction of the assigned District Chief.
The Miramichi Fire Department also has the good fortune of having 80 paid
on call or volunteer fire fighters that train to the Level one NFPA standard
and responds to more than 600 emergencies every year.

DESIGNED TO PROTECT LIVES, PROPERTIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT FROM THE ADVERSE
EFFECTS OF FIRE AND EXPOSURE TO DANGEROUS CONDITIONS CREATED BY EITHER
MAN OR NATURE.
