Facilities and Equipment

The Miramichi Fire Department operates out of five stations and serves a population of 22,765 within the City of Miramichi. Under contract with the Province of New Brunswick the department also is responsible for fire suppression to an additional 6,240 residents living outside the city limits.

This is carried out with one range truck, nine pumpers, two tankers, one 100’ aerial ladder, four quick response vehicles equipped with foam, four resource vehicles equipped with auto extrication tools and other equipment, two half tons serving in fire prevention/inspection branch, two 4x4s for Platoon Chief use.

We also have a crash truck that responds to Air Craft emergencies at the Municipal Airport, along wit this we respond to water emergencies to assist other services with two boats. A rubber 15’ zodiac style with a 25 horsepower motor and a 16’ aluminium boat with a 40 horsepower.

Recently we were the recipients of a Thermal Imagining Camera. This was made possible due to the efforts of the Miramichi Rotarians. This group at the annual fun run raised the monies needed to purchase this equipment.
