Develops
the movement foundations for swimming strokes and introduces the
Swim to Survive skills using a PFD. Challenges the child to develop
more endurance and introduces front crawl and dog paddle. Can do
the Swim to Survive skills without assistance. Will be prepared
to enter Swimmer 2. For Ages 3-6 yrs. |

seconds, Sculling arms only surface support 30 seconds, underwater
breath hold 10-20 seconds, front, back and side flutter kick 15-25m,
whip kick on back 5-10m, front and back crawl 10-15m, kick intervals
4 x 25m, jump into deep water, tread 30 seconds, and back kick
25m. |

dive into deep water, roll off boyant aid into water, tread water
with arms and legs 1-2 minutes, object recovery, 1.2 to 1.5m deep,
stay under for 10-20 seconds, whip kick on back 10-15m, front crawl
25-50m, back crawl 15-25m, kick intervals 4 x 25m, endurance – roll
in, tread 1 minute and swim 50m. |

dive into deep water, stride jump, tread water legs only 30-60
seconds, whip kick on front with aid 10-15m, scissor kick 10-15m,
front and back crawl 25-50m, elementary back stroke 15-25m, kick
interval 4x9-12m whip or scissor kick, swim interval 4x25m front
crawl, roll, 25m front crawl, 25m back kick, tread 1 minute and
swim 25m of choice. |

Timed 100m
swims, 350m workouts and swims with clothes. A work hard/play hard
approach develops swimming strength and efficiency with emphasis
on personal responsibility for Water Smart behaviour. |

Ranger Patrol

Ranger Patrol
is challenging but achievable with effort. Skill drills enhance
capability in the water including a non-contact rescue. A good
beginning to become a lifesaver. |
| AQ12 |
Star Patrol
|
Star Patrol
demands good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgement for
time 300m swims, 600m workouts, whistle signals, and airway and
bleeding first aid priorities. Star Patrol is excellent preparation
for the Bronze Star Award. |
