AT L’il tots
(Tot and Guardian)
Ages 6mos to 3 years
L’il Tots is designed for children from 6 months – 3+ years and their caregivers. They participate together. The focus is not skill based, but on a fun experience together based on the Within Arms Reach principle.
AQ 1, 2 L’il Swimmer 1&2
(shallow end)
Ages 3-6yrs
(no guardian)

Introduces safe entry and exit from shallow water, breath control, safe movement in shallow water, assisted floats and entries. Learn to float, glide and kick as well as assisted entries into deep water. For Ages 3-6yrs.
AQ 2, 3 L’il Swimmer 3 & 4
(shallow end)
Ages 3-6yrs
(no guardian)
Develops the movement foundations for swimming strokes and introduces the Swim to Survive skills using a PFD. Challenges the child to develop more endurance and introduces front crawl and dog paddle. Can do the Swim to Survive skills without assistance. Will be prepared to enter Swimmer 2. For Ages 3-6 yrs.
AQ 4 & 5 Swimmer 1
(deep end)
Ages 6yrs and up *
This is designed for children who are 6 yrs of age or older, who are ready for the deep end. * Children who are younger than 6 and are already in deep end classes should start with this level.
AQ6 Swimmer 2

Jump into deep water from a height, forward roll with and without a PFD, tread water with arms 30-60 seconds, Sculling arms only surface support 30 seconds, underwater breath hold 10-20 seconds, front, back and side flutter kick 15-25m, whip kick on back 5-10m, front and back crawl 10-15m, kick intervals 4 x 25m, jump into deep water, tread 30 seconds, and back kick 25m.
AQ7 Swimmer 3
Kneeling dive into deep water, roll off boyant aid into water, tread water with arms and legs 1-2 minutes, object recovery, 1.2 to 1.5m deep, stay under for 10-20 seconds, whip kick on back 10-15m, front crawl 25-50m, back crawl 15-25m, kick intervals 4 x 25m, endurance – roll in, tread 1 minute and swim 50m.
AQ8 Swimmer 4
Standing dive into deep water, stride jump, tread water legs only 30-60 seconds, whip kick on front with aid 10-15m, scissor kick 10-15m, front and back crawl 25-50m, elementary back stroke 15-25m, kick interval 4x9-12m whip or scissor kick, swim interval 4x25m front crawl, roll, 25m front crawl, 25m back kick, tread 1 minute and swim 25m of choice.
AQ9 Swimmer 5

Dive from a height, jump from a height, tread 1 minute and swim with cloths 25m, egg beater kick head first on back 10-15m, head up front crawl 10-15m, side stroke 15-25m, elementary back stroke 25-50m, breast stroke 15-25m, swim interval 4x50m choice, 4x25m front and 50m choice.
AQ10 Rookie Patrol
Timed 100m swims, 350m workouts and swims with clothes. A work hard/play hard approach develops swimming strength and efficiency with emphasis on personal responsibility for Water Smart behaviour.
AQ11 Ranger Patrol
Ranger Patrol is challenging but achievable with effort. Skill drills enhance capability in the water including a non-contact rescue. A good beginning to become a lifesaver.
AQ12 Star Patrol
Star Patrol demands good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgement for time 300m swims, 600m workouts, whistle signals, and airway and bleeding first aid priorities. Star Patrol is excellent preparation for the Bronze Star Award.

Must have completed AQ11, 12 or CSP or be 12 yrs
  Bronze Medallion
Must have completed Bronze Star or be 13 yrs
  Bronze Cross
Must have completed Bronze Medallion.
  Swim for Life Instructor
Must have completed Bronze Cross and be 15 yrs
  NLS
Must have completed Bronze Cross and be 16 yrs or older
