French Fort Cove Nature Park
 

French Fort Cove The Cove is a multi-season family park offering canoe, kayak and paddleboat rentals in summer; spectacular scenery in the fall when the cove is ablaze with vibrant colors of red, yellow and orange; and skating and sliding in winter. You will find numerous walking, hiking and biking trails, playground, dairy bar, history hut, boardwalk, covered bridge and more! The Rotary Pond Hockey Tournament is held each year in February.

Miramichi Skate Park Open to BMX, in-line and skateboard users. Sorry, no scooters. Properly fastened helmets mandatory and elbow and knee pads are strongly recommended.

Mountain Bike Trails at French Fort Cove
 

mountainbikeThe mountain biking experience in Miramichi starts at the French Fort Cove
playground parking lot on King George Highway. Please park to the right side
and start your ride by the permanent trail map. Riders are asked to not ride
around the "crushed rock" trail by the playground and canteen as there are
often families with small children and seniors. The mountain bike trails are
accessed by riding two multi-use trails with several walkers and hikers,
please exercise caution and yield right of way. There is approximately 17Kms
of mountain bike singletrack available and another 10Kms of double track and
woods roads. Trails are well marked and mapped, anyone with some mountain
bike experience can handle the more technical spots.

Ritchie Wharf Park
 

Ritchie Wharf Park Built on the banks of the Miramichi River, this shipbuilding park is a great place to stop to enjoy a warm summer day. Masts rise out of a wooden boardwalk where you can stroll along the waterfront, visit the shops featuring hand-made souvenirs or enjoy a delicious meal. The kids can stay busy at the natuical-themed playground or cool of on the splash pad! Docking and launching facilities are available.

Other amenities include ample parking, picnic area and public washrooms.

Historic Beaubears Island Tour
 

Come and discover the diverse heritage of this National Historic Site. Includes a tour of the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre, viewing of educational video, short boat trip to island and guided walking tour with costumed guides. Uninhabited for more than 100 years, was once a thriving shipbuilding center.  Much of the shipbuilding sites and former foundations are still evident today.  Visitors to the island will see spectacular old growth pines, lilacs, plum trees and wildlife.  Beaubears Island is believed to be the only untouched shipbuilding site left intact in Canada.
