Week-long festivals, celebrations of history, culture and music as well as community fairs, there is no shortage of special events along the river.
Striper Cup
Cancelled for 2020
The Miramichi Striper Cup is Atlantic Canada’s premier competitive bass fishing tournament held in the City of Miramichi each year on the last weekend of May. This “catch and release” tournament features three divisions: Team/Boat – (up to 4 people), Individual/Shore, and Youth. The shore and youth divisions will be open from May 1st until. May 24th giving participants almost a month to bag their wining bass; based on length. A top prize of $5,000 goes to the team that with the heaviest 4 fish (allowed to weigh in 2 fish/day) of the weekend competitive tournament. “We have never experienced anything like this in our lives before,”-Pete Bowman ( Fish’n Canada). miramichistripercup.ca
Rock n’ Roll Festival
JULY 2 – 5
This four-day Rock ‘N’ Roll festival takes includes such events as the Golden Oldie Car Show, concerts, street dance, fireworks and more. Check out the performances in the big tent on the waterfront. Canada’s Irish Festival
JULY 16-19
Every year, thousands of people gather on the Miramichi for jam-packed entertainment! There is plenty of Irish music, dance, pubs, family walking parade and a play. Check out the vendors and even do a little research into your family history. When you’re ready for a break from the excitement, drop by the Irish Tea Room or enjoy some corned beef & cabbage. Explore this historic city with its breathtaking views of the famous Miramichi River. You’ll meet old friends and make new ones.
