Economic Development and Tourism Administrator

In accordance with the Collective Agreement between CUPE Local 3863 and the City of Miramichi the following vacancy is posted:

Position Title:  Economic Development and Tourism Administrator

Reports To:

Director of Economic Development and Tourism

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for supporting and promoting the department’s tourism and economic development initiatives through assisting with the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies for the Department. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 2-year diploma from an accredited college in tourism, marketing, or equivalent degree/diplom

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in tourism

Responsibilities: 

1.  Participation in trade, travel trade and consumer shows as required.

2.  Assists in the coordination of ad copy and design.

3.  Assists in the preparation of the annual department budget.

4.  Assists in updates and postings to the Department’s websites.

5.  Co-ordinates and/or assists with special projects and promotions.

6.  Communicate with various community organizations, provincial departments, numerous tourism agencies and the public for the purpose of promoting tourism and economic development initiatives.

7.  Assists in the development of partnerships with various organizations to promote tourism and economic development.

8.  Oversee the operation of the Visitor Information Center/s and supervises summer students staffing the center/s.

9.  Coordinate the collection and distribution of the Tourism Accommodation Levy

10.  Prepare various reports, correspondence and communication as required.

11. Other duties as required.
