Weekly Construction Update
Here is the weekly construction update for the week of June 8th, 2026.
Hydrant Flushing - 2026
The City of Miramichi Public Works Department wishes to advise businesses and residents that the flushing of water lines will being on Monday, June 8th and continue until August 7th, 2026.
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 – 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝
John Street from Pyne Street along the Ironmen Field will be closed to all traffic May 12 in order to facilitate removal and installation of poles along John Street.
UPDATE - Spring Leaf Pick Up 2026
The City of Miramichi advises residents that FERO will be picking up leaves the week of May 25th to May 29th.
NOTE: This is separate from regular household garbage and recycling pick up.
Oath of Office Ceremony scheduled for May 25th
Please join the City of Miramichi Council-Elect for the Oath of Office Ceremony at a Special Council Meeting on Monday, May 25th.
Emergency Access Gates
Emergency access gates are being installed in three locations near the Route 8 roundabout to use if there is an accident in the roundabout.
Centennial Bridge deck demolition
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is reminding the public that the bridge is an active construction zone that is unsafe for members of the public to enter.
Changes to Municipal Services
There will be changes to city services and operations during the closure of the Centennial Bridge.
Notice of Time Change for Garbage and Recycling Collection
Starting Monday, April 6th, 2026, Fero will begin garbage and recycling collection at 5:00 a.m. to help reduce traffic delays during the Centennial Bridge closure.

After hearing from businesses and Miramichiers at the recent open house event in Miramichi, the Centennial Bridge closure has been delayed to close to all traffic on Monday, April 6, after Easter weekend.
Keep no parking zones at Civic Centre clear
The Department of Community Wellness and Recreation is requesting the public keep the no parking zones at the Miramichi Civic Centre clear at all times.
