Following the ratification of the collective agreement between the City of Miramichi and International Association of Firefighters Local 5087 on April 1st, 2025, it was officially signed on April 29th, 2025.

Mayor presents State of the City Address
Mayor Adam Lordon presented his annual State of the City Address at an event hosted by the Greater Miramichi Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
In his address, he highlighted key achievements and celebrations from 2024. He spoke about population growth for the city and the need for more housing and the reasons why the City continues to have housing as a key priority.

Arbec Wellness Centre Donations Honours Donors’ Parents
The parents of Irene Christie and Deborah Lyons have been honoured with donations that will see three areas inside the Arbec Wellness Centre named for them.
On behalf of the Campton Christie Foundation Inc., Christie donated $300,000 and Lyons, who serves as the honorary chair of the fundraising committee, donated $250,000.

City By-Election to be held April 14th
Residents of the City of Miramichi can vote Monday, April 14th in the Local Government By-Election to fill two councillor-at-large seats.

Miramichi’s residential tax rate remains same as city council approves 2025 budget
Miramichi City Council approved the City of Miramichi’s 2025 budget at a special public council meeting on December 10th. Council held three days of public deliberations on November 19th, November 26th, and December 3rd before adopting the final budget on December 10th.
The City’s residential tax rate will remain the same at 1.715 per $100 assessment.
