City recognizes the service of longtime employees

Mayor Adam Lordon and city council recognized the service of longtime employees and retirees at the December 16th, 2025 Regular Council Meeting.

Members of City Staff were recognized for their years of service. Those with 35 years and 30 years of service were presented with a certificate. The others were acknowledged by Mayor Lordon.

Retirees will be recognized at the New Year’s Levee being held Thursday, January 1st at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 67 King Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

35 Years of Service

Jamie Sullivan
was hired in 1990 by the former Town of Newcastle Public Works as a Labourer and he worked his way up to the position of Foreman, the position he currently holds.

Randy Hansen was hired in 1989 as a constable with the former Town of Chatham police department and in 1995 as a constable with the Miramichi Police Force. He was promoted to the role of Superintendent of Police in 2007. In June 2024, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Chief of Police, the position he currently holds.

30 Years of Service

Dana Hicks was hired in 1995 as a Constable with the Miramichi Police Force and then became a Sergeant, and is presently the shift supervisor in charge of  ‘B’  Platoon.

Jody Whyte was hired in 1995 as a Constable with the Miramichi Police Force and then became a Sergeant and is presently in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Rhonda Ripley was hired in 1995 as an Assistant Clerk in accounts payable then transitioned over to accounts receivable, for Finance. She has held roles with the Miramichi Fire Department and as Assistant City Clerk. She was promoted to City Clerk in 2020, a position she still holds today.

Robert Thompson was hired in 1995 as a Civil Engineering Technician, a position he still holds.

Stacey Dunfield was hired in 1995 as Office Clerk with the Miramichi Police Force, and became Court Secretary in 2001, and the Assistant City Clerk in 2020.

20 Years of Service

Andrew McFarlane was hired in 2005 as Constable with the Miramichi Police Force and was promoted to Superintendent in 2024.

Edward Goodfellow was hired in 2005 as Constable with the Miramichi Police Force and rose to the rank of Sergeant, a position he still holds.

15 Years of Service

Brad Gillis was hired in 2010 as Water Treatment Plant Operator with the Public Works Department, a position he still holds.

Jason Lavoie was hired in 2010 as a Constable with the Miramichi Police Force and moved to the position of Community Services Office in 2023, a position he still holds.

Jason Walsh was hired in 2010 as the Recreation Co-Ordinator with the Community Wellness and Recreation Department, and in 2018 he became the Director the department, a position he still holds.

10 Years of Service

Richard Myles was hired in 2015 as a Systems Administrator, a position he still holds.

Robert Cabel was hired in 2015 as a Mechanic in the Public Works Department, a position he still holds.

Timothy Mercier was hired in 2015 as Constable with the Miramichi Police Force, a position he still holds.

Tony Goguen was hired in 2015 as Machine Operator with the Public Works Department, a position he still holds.

Warren Silliker was hired in 2015 as Superintendent in the Public Works Department and he became Manager of Transportation in 2024, the position he still holds.

2025 Retirees

Greg McLaughlin

The City of Miramichi proudly recognizes Greg McLaughlin for his dedicated service.
Greg began his career in 1996 as a Caretaker with the City’s Recreation Department and later that year joined the Department of Public Works. In 2003, he advanced to the role of Machine Operator, and in 2015, he returned to the position of Caretaker, serving at the Miramichi Police Department until his retirement in February 2025.

Michael Noel

The City of Miramichi recognizes Micheal Noel for his dedication and leadership.
Michael served as City Solicitor from October 2007 to June 23, 2013, and began his journey as City Manager on June 24, 2013, a role he held with distinction until his retirement in August 2025.

Lorri McEachern

The City of Miramichi proudly recognizes Lorri McEachern for her remarkable career in law enforcement and her dedication to our community.
Lorri began her career with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service in July 1990, serving in various sections including Drug Enforcement, Homicide, and as a Uniformed Patrol Officer.
In July 1997, Lorri joined the Miramichi Police Force, where she was assigned to general patrol duties. In 2000, she became a K-9 Officer, a role she held for an impressive 17 and 1/2 years.
Lorri was promoted to Corporal in 2007, and in 2019, advanced to Sergeant, leading a platoon in the Patrol Division. In 2021, she assumed the position of Chief Reader, serving with distinction until her retirement in September 2025.

Heidi Hardy

The City of Miramichi would like to recognize Heidi Hardy for her dedication and service.
Heidi joined the City in February 2024 as an Office Clerk, Front Desk in the Finance Department. She continued in this role for nearly two years, until her retirement in October 2025.

We thank all the retirees for their commitment and contributions that have made a lasting impact on our city.
