There is a NOTICE OF A PRECAUTIONARY BOIL ORDER FOR RESIDENTS OF the following area:

  • Water Street – West of Kelly Road to Old Ferry Road

  • Kelly Road

  • Harper Road

  • Mirvew Road

  • Old Ferry Road

The City of Miramichi in conjunction with the Provincial Department of Health & Wellness wishes to advise residents that due to a water service break, a precautionary boil order has been issued.  The above-mentioned customers are affected.

This letter is to serve notice of a precautionary boil order as requested by the Department of Health & Wellness as of 10:30 p.m, Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  Re-sampling and monitoring will occur until two (2) clear samples are received.  Please run cold water tap for 10-15 minutes once water service has been restored.

The precautionary boil order procedures to follow as provided by the Department of Health & Wellness are as follows:

  1. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for two (2) minutes prior to human consumption.

  2. Any water to be injected, for example brushing teeth, making ice, water used in coffee/tea or juice, preparation of infant formula, and washing raw vegetables should be boiled.

  3. People whose immune system is susceptible, e.g. the elderly, infants and people with transplanted organs, on dialysis or with Aids, etc. should pay particular attention to the use of a safe source of drinking water.  Water which has been properly boiled is considered a safe source.

  4. It is safe for people to take showers or bathe.

  5. It is safe to wash dishes in hot water and soap then air dry or use a dishwashing machine.

The precautionary boil order will remain in effect until the Department of Health & Wellness and the City of Miramichi are confident that the water supply is safe.  The City will advise residents when the precautionary boil order can be lifted and it is safe to resume consumption.

Should you require additional information, please call 623-2020.
