TIPS FOR EMPLOYERS

The Centennial Bridge will close on Monday, April 6th, 2026 for a period of eight months and will reopen in December.
Here are some tips to assist during the closure.

  1. Stay informed
Follow provincial and city updates and announcements as they relate to the construction project.

  2. Reach out to fellow business owners
We’re all in this together! Connect with local business community and brainstorm ways to join forces in preparation for the closure, such as developing initiatives to attract customers.

  3. Strengthen your digital presence
This is a good time to strengthen your online presence. Update your website with alternate routes, online ordering, curbside pick-up, and other delivery options.

  4. Get creative
Think about offering a construction special, hosting an exclusive deal, or providing another incentive to get customers through your door during the closure.

  5. Inform staff
Communication is key. Encourage employees to plan ahead and adjust their commute as needed.

  6. Consider flexible work hours
To allow for flexibility at peak travel times, consider modifying your hours of operation or employee shift schedules.

  7. Work from home?
While it won’t be possible for all business owners, you may want to explore a work from home option for employees facing commuting challenges during the bridge closure.

  8. Encourage active transportation
Encourage employees to choose alternative means of transportation such as walking or biking, carpooling with friends and/or co-workers, or taking the bus.

    Please shop local!
