TIPS FOR RESIDENTS

The Centennial Bridge will close on Monday, April 6th, 2026 for a period of eight months and will reopen in December.
Here are some tips to assist during the closure.

  1. Stay Informed
Follow provincial and city updates and announcements as they relate to the construction project.

  2. Consider modifying work hours
Discuss the closure with your employer in case there is a possibility you can adjust your work hours to avoid peak travel times. This includes mornings, noon hours, and early evenings.

  3. Does a ‘work from home option’ work?
While it won’t be possible for all businesses, check with your employer to see if a ‘work from home ‘ option could work for you to avoid possible community challenges.

  4. Explore alternatives
For shorter trips consider alternative means of transportation, such as walking or biking. Carpool with friends and/or co-workers.

  5. Take the bus.
Miramichi Transit will be operating four (4) daily routes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and two (2) evening routes from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Check here for more information on the schedule, routes, and fares.

  6. Be patient
Infrastructure improvements take time. Your patience helps minimize disruptions.

  7. Plan your trip.
Plan your trips and allow extra time to get to work, school, and appointments.

  8. Adjust travel time.
If possible, adjust the times you do daily or weekly errands.

  9. What else should I prepare to do during closures.
Reduce or combine trips if you plan to travel on the King George Highway. ‍ ‍

  10. Keep traffic flowing.
Exercise caution, follow the posted signage and limit left-hand turns.
