The City of Miramichi is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Sargent as its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective February 16th, 2026.

The appointment was unanimously approved by council at a special meeting held January 13, 2026. He will begin the role in an acting capacity to allow for a probationary period as per provincial legislation after which he will assume the role in a permanent capacity.

Greg possesses extensive management and team leadership experience from public sector and healthcare environments, having spent 11 years in progressive leadership roles with Horizon Health Network before transitioning to his role as Executive Director with the Provincial Government over three years ago. He has a proven track record for establishing clear operational plans for large, complex organizations.

Mayor Adam Lordon shared his enthusiasm for the appointment:

“It’s been a long process, but I am confident that we have a very strong candidate in Mr. Sargent who will bring a lot of skill and experience to the position. We believe he will be able to improve the connection between our strategic goals and day to day operations, and to bring a fresh perspective to improve communications and culture both internally and externally. We look forward to working with him to achieve these goals”.

Once Greg takes over the role, he will begin meeting with staff, Council, and community stakeholders to learn more about the municipality's priorities and vision.

The City of Miramichi looks forward to working with Greg in building a vibrant, sustainable future for all residents.
