Hiring: Asset Management Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Position Summary: The Asset Management Coordinator plays a vital role in guiding the municipality’s asset management program. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position provides expertise across the organization and ensures assets are strategically managed to support long-term service delivery. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing frameworks and tools, coordinating asset data collection and condition assessments, overseeing lifecycle analysis, and supporting departments in the ongoing management of municipal assets.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Preference given to candidates with a Certificate or Diploma in Asset Management and/or Project Management.
Minimum 3 (three) years in asset or portfolio management or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be given consideration.
Strong project management skills with the ability to meet tight timelines and budgets
Knowledge of asset management principles, lifecycle analysis, and data-driven planning
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities:
Program Development & Strategy
Coordinate municipal asset management strategy, policies, and frameworks
Monitor legislation, technology, and best practices to improve policies and tools
Advocate for sustainable infrastructure funding based on asset management principles
Data & Analysis
Ensure consistent collection, storage, and analysis of asset data
Conduct condition assessments and lifecycle analysis
Maintain and update asset management database
Financial & Planning Support
Assist with financial planning, investment strategies, and capital infrastructure planning
Provide input into municipal business plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives
Support departments in extracting data for operating and capital budgets
Reporting & Communication
Prepare options, recommendations, and reports for senior management and Council
Present findings and updates to Council and leadership teams
Collaboration & Training
Work with departments to ensure asset data relevance and accuracy
Train staff on asset management software and policies
Lead specialized studies/projects with consultants and internal teams
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to federal/provincial legislation, municipal acts, and by-laws
Perform other related duties as required
