In accordance with the Collective Agreement between CUPE Local 1387 and the City of Miramichi, the following vacancy is posted:
Temporary Labourers
Position Summary: These positions carry out a variety of work necessary for the completion of the municipality's construction and maintenance operations in the areas of water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage system, road, sidewalks, buildings, parks and ballfields.
Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 education or equivalent
Possession of a valid N.B. Driver’s License, Class 5, and a current driver’s abstract
Working knowledge of the types, uses, care and control of common hand tools and standardized equipment and materials used in the municipal services
Ability to operate small, motorized equipment
Ability to understand, interpret and carry out oral and written instructions/orders
Commitment to safety rules
Communication and teamwork skills
Good customer service skills when interacting with the public
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Ability to follow instruction
Physically able to perform tasks required
Willing to train on equipment
Additional Qualifications:
The possession of a Class 3F License as well as experience in the operation of heavy equipment and/or applicable trades may be considered an asset.
