Structure Fire – 14 Howard Street

Miramichi Fire Department

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, the Miramichi Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 14 Howard Street in Miramichi.

Crews remained on scene of a large fire involving an abandoned building, which had been slated for demolition in the coming weeks.

Due to safety concerns, interior operations transitioned to defensive tactics early into the incident. After several hours of high-volume water use of approximately 3,000 gallons per minute, efforts were reduced to limit strain on the municipal water system. Crews continued to monitor the fire and have aerial master streams standing by for ongoing fire suppression as needed.

Miramichi Police Force remained on scene to assist Miramichi Fire Department with traffic control and public safety.

Residents were asked to avoid the area as crews continued operations.
