Cedar Camp Developments has been approved as the developer for property on Tupsi Drive with plans to develop a hotel complex, retail stores, a restaurant, office space and residential units.

At the May 5th, 2026 Special Council Meeting, Miramichi City Council agreed to execute an Agreement of Purchase and Sale with Developer Agreement for 7.5 acres of property for $100,000 plus HST.

The development will be located in close proximity to the Arbec Wellness Centre, located off of Douglastown Boulevard as part of the overall plan to enhance and compliment the investments the city has made and assist in establishing its presence as a true destination in northeastern New Brunswick.

The total value of the development is approximately $95 million.

The process to find a developer for the property began in the fall of 2024 when an Expression of Interest was issued. Three developers responded and were issued the Request for Proposals in July 2025. Cedar Camp Developments was one of two submissions received with the other being non-compliant.

Following a presentation to council, discussions were held with the developer to determine an acceptable Agreement of Purchase & Sale for the property that was based on the submission received and the vision of council.

Economic Development Officer Paul McGraw made a presentation to council detailing the process from start to finish. He told council the developer has to start construction immediately upon final acquisition of the property and city conditions being met. If there is no progress within one year, the property can be taken back by the City.

Members of City Council thanked the Economic Development and Tourism director Jeff MacTavish and McGraw for their work on the file and looked forward to the development being completed.
