Gerry Cormier Charity Golf Tournament donations presented to community organizations

A number of presentations were made by Mayor Adam Lordon on behalf of the City at the Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025.

Cheques were presented to charities, non-profits, and to city staff helping Christmas families. The funds came from the proceeds raised at the Gerry Cormier Memorial Charity Golf Tournament organized by city staff and held in honour of the former mayor each summer. The 2025 event raised $17,491.17 and the recipients are:

  • Miramichi Community Food Bank - $4000, accepted by Karen Leverton

  • Miramichi Ground Search and Rescue - $2000, accepted by Teresa King and Nathalie Mercer

  • Miramichi Safe Harbour Services - $2000, accepted by Cheryl Lloyd

  • Miramichi Housing Solutions - $2000, no representative available to accept

  • Miramichi SPCA - $2000, accepted by Debbie McKay

  • Christmas Family - City Hall - $500, accepted by Brenda Landry

  • Christmas Family - Miratech - $500, accepted by Terry Sherrard

  • Gerry Cormier Scholarship Fund - $4,491.77, accepted by Jackie Cormier

All funds will be used by each organization for important and worthy causes.

“I love coming to tonight to receive this,” said Jackie Cormier, wife of the late Gerry Cormier adding the scholarship helps a lot of students.

“It’s so great to see all the other recipients that are receiving this money. It’s a well worth cause and I know he’s up there looking down on us.”
